Designing Smart Environments:

Green Living, LLC's Design Team uses the power of 3D to help determine the energy, water, and carbon information which is most effective when incorporated into the design process early on.

We integrate with Google Earth to the actual latitude and longitude of the project site to visualize buildings in their real-life context. That not only helps our designers communicate how the project will look, but allows them to accurately model how nearby landscape features and structures will cast shadows over the building—useful for fine-tuning a building's site orientation or window placement to cut energy use, or for positioning solar panels.

Green Living Design Tools:

AutoCAD - Green Living uses the powerful, flexible features found in AutoCAD® design and documentation software, one of the world’s leading 2D and 3D CAD tools. Speed documentation, share ideas seamlessly, and explore ideas more intuitively in 3D.

Revit - The essential building information modeling (BIM) data that Autodesk Revit Architecture software provides to support sustainable design, clash detection, construction planning, and fabrication.

Sketchup - Our designers are using Google SketchUp to make decisions early in the design process which will significantly affect the way their buildings perform. From determining a project's overall massing to optimizing fenestration patterns and siting for the position of the sun, SketchUp helps us explore options early enough to make a real difference.

Google Earth - combines the power of Google Search with satellite imagery, maps, terrain and 3D buildings to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips. Beyond mapping software, Google Earth is a powerful tool for viewing, creating and sharing interactive and highly visual location-specific information.

EnergyPlus OpenStudio- EnergyPlus is a building energy simulation software created and maintained by the U.S. Department of Energy. It models heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and other energy flows in buildings.

AGi32- Lighting analysis software for calculations and renderings of electric lighting and daylighting systems.
